- Does this include fees or origination costs?
- No — it models pure principal and interest. Add origination or arrangement fees to the loan amount to see their effect on the payment.
- Is the rate APR or nominal?
- Treat the input as the nominal annual rate that the lender divides by 12. If your lender quotes APR that already includes fees, the true monthly cost is slightly higher.
- Can I model interest-only or balloon loans?
- Not directly. This calculator is for standard fully-amortizing term loans. For interest-only, monthly payment ≈ balance × APR ÷ 12 until the balloon date.
- What does the Business Loan Amortization Calculator do?
- Monthly payment, total interest and full amortization schedule for a business term loan. How-to: enter the loan principal, annual interest rate (APR) and term in months. We use the standard amortization formula M = P·r·(1+r)^n / ((1+r)^n − 1), where r is the monthly rate (APR ÷ 12) and n is the number of payments. Each month, interest = balance × r, and principal = payment − interest.
