Privacy & GDPR Policy
This policy explains what Calcurly.com processes, why we process it, how long we keep it, who receives it, and the privacy choices available to you.
Effective and last updated: 1 October 2026
1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies when you visit Calcurly.com, create an account, save calculators, use AI search or photo analysis, submit an enquiry, use or publish an embed, or interact with advertising, sponsor, and affiliate features. The operator of Calcurly.com is the data controller for processing described here. Contact the controller at privacy@calcurly.com. A third-party site that embeds our calculator remains responsible for information it collects independently.
2. Information we collect
- Account information: email address, authentication identifiers, account status, and saved calculators.
- Usage information: pages and calculators used, related-calculator selections, approximate country or region, referring page, device/browser information, consent choice, and timestamps.
- AI inputs and outputs: finder questions, optional meal or room photos, measurement references, notes, detected items or openings, and generated results. Photos are processed in memory for the requested analysis and are not intentionally added to a permanent Calcurly photo library. Do not include faces, documents, addresses, or other identifying or sensitive details.
- Enquiries: details you choose to provide in contact, quote, sponsorship, or business forms, which may include name, email, phone, location, job description, and estimate.
- Commercial interactions: clicks on sponsor or affiliate links and campaign information. A merchant may separately collect purchase and payment data under its own policy.
- Technical information: security logs, IP address when required to deliver or protect the service, error information, and necessary session data.
3. Why we use information
We use information to calculate and display results; analyse submitted photos; authenticate members; save favorites and settings; recommend calculators; remember region and consent; respond to enquiries; secure the service; enforce embed permissions; measure aggregate engagement; administer sponsorships and affiliates; comply with law; and establish or defend legal claims. We do not use uploaded meal or room photos for advertising profiles.
Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal bases are performance of a contract, legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, consent for optional analytics or advertising where required, and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
4. Sharing and processors
We use contracted providers for hosting, database and account services, security, AI processing, email, support, analytics, advertising, and affiliate attribution. They receive only information needed for their role and act under their own terms or our instructions, as applicable. AI inputs, including submitted images, are sent to our AI infrastructure to produce the requested result. We may also disclose information when legally required, to protect rights and safety, during a business transfer, or at your direction. We do not sell personal information for money. Some US laws define targeted advertising transfers as a “sale” or “sharing”; use Cookie preferences to opt out.
5. International transfers
Providers may process information outside your country. Where required, we rely on adequacy decisions, approved contractual protections, or another lawful transfer mechanism. Online services cannot guarantee that every processing location offers identical legal protections.
6. Retention and security
Account and favorite records remain while your account is active and for a limited period needed to complete deletion, prevent abuse, or meet legal duties. Consent records, enquiries, security logs, affiliate records, and aggregate analytics are retained only for their operational, evidential, accounting, or legal purpose. Uploaded analysis photos are held in browser memory and request processing only, rather than stored as a permanent user gallery. Backups and provider logs may persist for limited technical cycles. We apply reasonable access, transport, and organisational safeguards, but no internet service is completely secure.
7. Your privacy rights
Under the GDPR, UK GDPR, and similar laws, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, or receive your information; object to processing based on legitimate interests; and withdraw consent at any time. Where applicable, you may opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or sharing; limit use of sensitive information; and appeal a declined request. You will not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising a right. We may verify identity, clarify a request, or retain information where a legal exception applies.
Email privacy@calcurly.com with “Privacy request” and your country or state. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority. Authorised agents must provide proof of authority where required.
8. Children
Calcurly.com is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child submitted information should contact us.
9. Automated recommendations
AI features recommend calculators and estimate food, rooms, and related quantities, but do not make decisions intended to produce legal or similarly significant effects. Outputs may be inaccurate and should be reviewed by you. You can edit detected food items, weights, doors, windows, and measurements where those controls are provided. See our Calculator & AI Disclaimer.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy to reflect legal, technical, or business changes. The date above shows the latest version. Material changes may be highlighted on the site. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to privacy@calcurly.com. General contact options are on the Contact page.
