About this calculator

How-to: enter planned production time, unplanned downtime, ideal cycle time, total units produced and defective units. Availability = run time ÷ planned time. Performance = (ideal cycle × total units) ÷ run time. Quality = good units ÷ total units. OEE = A × P × Q. World-class is ≥ 85%; industry average is 60%.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as planned production time?
Total shift time minus scheduled stops (breaks, planned maintenance, no orders). Do not subtract unplanned downtime here — that goes in the downtime field.
Where does the six-big-losses model fit?
Availability captures breakdowns and setup losses; Performance captures minor stops and slow cycles; Quality captures startup rejects and process defects.
Why is my Performance over 100%?
The ideal cycle time you entered is longer than what the machine actually achieved — recalibrate to the true nameplate rate.
What does the Production Throughput (OEE) Calculator do?
Overall Equipment Effectiveness — Availability × Performance × Quality — plus the good units per shift for a production line. How-to: enter planned production time, unplanned downtime, ideal cycle time, total units produced and defective units. Availability = run time ÷ planned time.
